In aerospace environment, the ENT area undergoes constraints in relation with the altitude change, the air pressure, temperature and humidity variation.

All these aeromedical concerns can explain the possible occurrence of barotrauma accidents that may jeopardize flight safety.

The main purpose of the medical examination in ENT is the screening of medical conditions that may interfere with the ability to fly in order to guarantee aviation safety.

Allergies screening is an essential step in the admission visit.

The ENT examinationincludes:

  • Oto logic examination
  • Nasopharyngeal examination
  • Endoscopic examination
  • A cervical examination
  • Additional radiological examinations.

There are multiple functional ENT examination in aerospace medicine; in our aeromedical center we perform tonal and vocal audiometry and impedancemetry, as well as of sinuses X-ray. Whether it is an admission or a routine examination, the different exams’ resultsare reported and taken in consideration in the fitness to fly decision.

We can alsoperform some tests in the hypobaric chamber or the spacial disorientation generator to confirm some medical condition diagnosis or their functional impact.
