examiner if he considers it necessary.
This examination is performed by a psychiatrist expert in the field of Aerospace Medicine.
In adition, this examination may require some psychological testing wich can be performed
by a clinical psychologist.
2. Aerospace Psychology Unit:
The aerospace psychology unit is dealing with the psychological evaluation of candidates,
aircrew and ground crew during their periodic medical examination.
The psychological evaluation is mainly based on conducting several psychometric tests.
The psychological examination uses patient interview and objective measurement tools
to assist the decision-making process, appreciate motivation
of individuals and assess their personality profile.
In clinical practice, the psychological examination is a contribution to psychiatric diagnosis
and treatment objectives. This examination is performed
case by case within the periodic medical examination in order to determine the patient’s
structure of the personality and to detect his psychological
vulnerability.
In the field of occupational psychology, the psychological testing assesses skills and the
type personality. It is performed during
the candidates’admission visit in order to predict either the success or the failure of
an individual to training and professional development.
At the end of each psychological evaluation, the results are expressed in terms of :
"very favorable, favorable, unfavorable, doubtful,
not favorable", to contribute to the fitness to fly- decision. The classification of
candidates refers to predetermined calibrations
which are scientifically validated and clearely established by Ministerial Instructions.
