The medical tests realized by the CEMEDA and consequently to medicine and cardiology are dictated by the standards and regulations set by the Ministry Of Transport for civil and The National Ministry of Defense for Military.

The main concern of medical tests in Aerospace Medicine is the screening of pathological cases or physiological limits may alter the pilot capacities and there by jeopardize air safety.

This medical test is based on:

-The medical examination of the candidate seeking chirugical and medical history and drug intake

-General measurements: height, weight, abdominal girth and calculation of body mass index

-Segmental measures: they are compulsory in the military fighter pilots it defines the ergonomic adaptation of the pilot to ejection seat and Cockpit                       fighters.

A systematic medical examination is carried out during this visit and concerns:

-the general appearance of the candidate; inspection  allows  the  check of  the  candidate general appearance of the skin exposed deformities and                        scars .They also allows  the vascular status of the candidate (possible presence of varicose veins ...)

-osteo-articular  system : examination allows to assess the correctness of the back in search of possible deformations

-cardiovascular system: heart ascultation is systematic in search of a breath or a heart rhythm disorder (tachycardia, arrhythmia) measurement of                      blood pressure is also practiced

-pulmonary system; pulmonary ascultation practiced in search of signs for a bronchial asthma or an inflammatory condition of the airways

-Digestive system:  the abdomen inspection looking for a hernia operation scar or palpation of the abdomen seeking an abdominal mass or increase the                volume of an organ such as the liver or spleen

-neurological examination and members: is practiced in search of an asymmetry or organs deformation.   This exam also allows a motor or sensory                     loss may be a sign of underlying disease

-urologic system: inspection can appreciate the integrity of the external genitalia and secondary sex characters.

Further examination will be carried out in case of anomalies systematic complementary examinations are also conducted during this visit:
